ABOUT

Experience and integrity

Much of my career to date has been spent building and leading Hireserve, a recruitment technology firm which was successfully exited in 2021.

Although I started programming in 1984, my most formative role in software development was at Oracle in the early 90s. In 1997 I began to explore the idea of an 'internet candidate management system' - the origins of Applicant Tracking Systems and other talent acquisition platforms that we know today. This idea became Hireserve. The business would progress to providing SaaS to 100+ clients in the UK, Europe and North America, and develop a network of strategic partnerships.

In 2021, Hireserve was acquired. After taking some time 'off' (a few holidays without emails beckoned!), I began providing consultancy services. I am also involved with two charities - the Olibob Arts Foundation, for which I provide IT support and guidance, and Historic Croydon Airport Trust (HCAT), working both as a Trustee as well as a tour guide.

I remain, for want of a better word, an 'inventor'! I am continually exploring new software technologies and am currently building an app - alongside letting a few other concepts percolate...

This may or may not become a space where I share updates and ideas of new app developments.

How successful these ventures are will likely determine their inclusion! Currently prototyping a 'lost and found' app on which to 'cut my teeth', as well as a much larger project (linked to personal information management) which is being progressed in parallel. Technologies with which I am working include FlutterFlow, AWS, MySQL, Firebase, PHP with Laravel and a number of others - essentially whatever looks interesting to solve problems or that looks to offer a viable long-term platform.
